Creating New Opportunities and Revenue with Next Gen TV
By leveraging ATSC 3.0 LPTV and new gateway technology broadcasters could enter a new phase of entrepreneurial growth. This session will map out how this could happen in three steps:
- A review the current technical state of both ATSC 3.0 low power TV and ATSC 3.0 home gateway technology
- A description on how these two advancing technologies can work together to create new local spectrum services
- The presenters will describe five technical services LPTV broadcasters could offer media companies and other new clients
Here are some of the new services LPTV broadcasters could offer:
Extending local radio service into the home
- Extending XM radio, or any radio station reception
Extending TV service
- Extending cable TV indoor reception in urban areas
- Extending rural broadcast TV coverage to small population pockets
Broadcast program enhancements:
- Second screen deployment for hi power TV stations
Enhancing Nielsen measurements for ATSC 1.0 channels
ATSC 3.0 clock-starter service for high-power TV stations
- The FCC mandates five-years when broadcasters transmit both ATSC 1.0 and 3.0. End this costly period sooner by “starting the clock” a with a low power ATSC 3.0 signal .
